Job Description

Scope: Work closely with the top management to ensure that the day-to-day accounting operations of the company and related companies / organizations, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger maintenance, and monthly reconciliations are well recorded, well kept, and maintained in addition to always ensuring regulatory compliance.

Role: 

  • Taking charge of day-to-day transactions (such as accounts payable, cash receipts and accounts receivable), credit card transactions, and payroll;
  • Performing timely and accurate month-end journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations; and updating accounting schedules properly and accurately;
  • Making proper revenue and expense recognition;
  • Monitoring cash and investment balances and performing cash flow forecasting;
  • Ensuring all finance and accounting operations comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), Maldives laws and regulations;
  • Assisting in developing and monitoring departmental, project, and organizational budget; in addition to assisting with monthly financial reporting needs;
  • Performing fiscal year-end close activities and assisting with activities and requirements of external auditors;
  • Communicating regularly with the head of the organization (in his role as Director of Finance);
  • Seeking and implementing strategies and tools to streamline and improve finance and accounting operations through technology (including training of staff to better utilize financial and accounting software and other tools to aid proper accounting); 
  • Ensuring timely reconciliation and reporting of all financial statements and financial analyses for the Director of Finance; 
  • Serving as the primary contact for team members on invoicing, bill payments, cash receipts and revenue, and budgets. 

QualificationsMust be a graduate in finance, accounting, or relevant field; have previous experience in financial management and accounting in a company or commercial entity;  be fluent in in written and spoken English; have knowledge in accounting software and tools.

Having a CPA certification is a plus; having a certificate in office management is a plus; having supervisory experience is a plus; and being able to speak Hindi is a plus. 

Requirements: Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) with expertise in Excel; sound knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations; proficiency and hands-on experience with financial management software such as QuickBooks / equivalent; experience in participating in annual audit; strong data management and data analysis skills; good time management and organizational skill; detail-oriented with a passion for accuracy.

Work Site: At head office premises

Work Hours: 9am to 5pm (except in an urgency)

Workdays: Sunday to Thursday. Friday Off. Saturday on call. 

Benefits: Salary, food allowance; accommodation allowance; annual holiday of 1 month after 12 months of work; free return ticket (end of one year); medical expenses (except for preexisting / long term illnesses); work permit and visa fees and other government payments

Contract: initially for 2 years, and to be renewed subject to approval; first three months to be a probation period.
